| Workpackage 3 is responsible to develop haptic sensor and actuator devices. These devices will serve two purposes. On one side they will provide the hardware basis of the implementation of the demonstrators. In this respect we will strongly use the devices available at the partners as a result of previous projects like Touch-Hapsys. The compatible design of the sensor and actuator (i.e. that the actuator is capable to generate the signals which the sensor delivers) is an important aspect of the record-replay principle and will therefore be taken care of during the development. On the other side, the workpackage is developing technology for future non-obtrusive technologies for immersive manual interaction in virtual and augmented environments. For this purpose it is essential to create portable devices without compromising haptic feedback quality. As such technology does not exist today, we will explore several solution approaches and compare them for their ability to fulfil the application requirements.
